FUNDRAISING EVENTS

Events are a great way to raise funds for Autism Speaks and spread the word about autism and our important work.

Whether a Summer Ball or a Christmas Concert, a sponsored swim or a sponsored slim,  a run on the road or a walk in the park,  a champagne and strawberries picnic in the garden or a teddy bears picnic in the woods, Autism Speaks would love to hear from you if you might consider putting on an event for us.

Lynn Hart, our Head of Events can provide you with advice and all the fundraising materials you need. Please email Lynn or contact her by telephone on 01491 411 569.

Vera’s Dance is a Great Success!

Vera Gibson and collleaguesOne of ‘our’ most amazing Grandmothers, Mrs Vera Gibson held a Dance at her local Parish Community Hall on Saturday 19th January and raised over £1000 as a result.  Vera sold 60 tickets @ £8 per head and with her band of willing volunteers, prepared a fabulous supper (please see photo).

From Left to Right:  Gwyneth Mills, Elsie Smith, Haf Jones, Vera Gibson, Anne Palmer, Frances Lester.

Vera also received many kind and generous donations for her raffle.  “It was the most enjoyable evening for everyone,” said Vera – “I can’t believe how much money I have been able to donate to AS – people have been so generous and kind.  I am also delighted that I have had the chance to do something for my two grandchildren who live in the States and for others like them” .

Vera would like to thank everyone who helped make this event possible, in particular: Rector Anne Davis; Joan & Bob Hartley; Jan Lunam; Gwyneth Mills; Anne Palmer; Liz Davies; Frances Lester; Frances Fearnet; Haf Jones; Pat Lewis; Elsie Smith; Glyn Thomas.

Vera is a True Ambassador for Autism Speaks – she really is a star and we would like to thank her warmly for her support and incredible hard work.  Time to have a rest now Vera!
