What will the advances in autism research and practice be in the
future? The vision for the future will be presented by internationally
renowned experts in the field of autism.
Keynote speaker Professor Sir Michael Rutter, one of the most
influential figures in child psychiatry, is credited as having defined
autism and revolutionised its treatment and is renowned for his
ground-breaking research on the genetics of autism. Other
speakers include Professor Uta Frith of the Institute of Cognitive
Neuroscience at University College London, acclaimed world-wide
for her work on developmental cognitive disorders and author of
many works including Autism, Explaining the Enigma (1989).
This is the inaugural conference in the annual Dame Stephanie
Shirley lecture series. Dame Stephanie Shirley, Founding Patron
of Prior’s Court School, is one of the world’s major supporters
of scientific research into the causes of autism through the
Shirley Foundation.
